I'm looking to buy a Dell laptop very soon off the outlet ( uk).

But i'm unsure about the graphic cards i was hoping one might have HDMI or at least DVI so i could hook it up to my plasma and display upto 1080I?

These seems to be all the cards that appear in the laptops ( Inspiron,XPS VOSTRO)

256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS XPS

    256 MB nVidia 8400M GS

256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Inspiron 1720

256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT XPS M1530

128MB Video Graphic Card G86 VOSTRO

Could anyone help me out please?

    Thank you.

unlike desktops the graphic card does not provide the output ports for various video........so u have to choose a model with these than a grafix card

if you're looking for 15" Laptop with HDMI support then go for 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT XPS M1530 or 17" Laptop then 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Inspiron 1720

    The 1720 doesn't provide an HDMI/DVI port. Only S-video.

I know, its a real bummer. Presumably, the S-Video output has extra pins so that you can buy an adapter to convert the signal to component analog high-def. However, it is no straight hdmi/dvi. The immage must suffer from it somehow.

I'll have to look into this i guess. Or hope i find a XPS M1530 Mp1730 on the outlet at the time i'm on there.

Thanks again for your help and advice.

DVI shouldn't be a problem, you can easily go out to a Radioshack or something and pick up a DVI->HDMI adapter.
