I want to start gaming on my laptop. Everquest II is what me and some friends are looking at (I know WoW exists but the whole 12 year-old thing..meh). I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. I have no idea what video card my laptop uses, but when I ran the 14-day test trial of EQII, it was totally laggy and it was not good at all. What can I do to change this? I would consider buying a new video card but I don't even know if that's possible for a laptop. I've read that you can use some products if you have a PCI or AGB slot but, of course, I have no idea if I have either. Suggestions, please.

Google and download CPU-Z and GPU-Z for a quick analysis of your system.

The majority of laptop graphics cards are not user upgradable (save for the higher end MXM interface laptops). It's probably easier to just get a new laptop with a decent graphics card in it.
If you're running Vista, hit [winkey]+[break] to bring up your system specs, then click on the Windows Experience Index. If you click "View and Print Details" you'll find a bunch of info about your graphics card. If you're running XP, bring up the device manager from the control panel and find "Display Adapters" and expand that to find what your GPU is. -
I thnk the E1705 has an upgradeable card that can go up to 7950 GTX assuming you don't have an integraded card.

I downloaded the CPU-Z and it did the scan. What would I need to list here for you to tell me whether or not I could put in a new video card, or even if I need one? I should have mentioned, my Dad added 2 gigs to my hard drive. I wouldn't know if that affects video or not..

GPU-Z.. And er, I think you are talking abt adding 2GB RAM, not HDD space...
If your card is listed as anything other than an Intel GMA 950, it will be upgraeable.. -
Yeah, 2GB of RAM… My bad.
I guess I’m listing the CPU because I can’t find the GPU. Mine is Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz. And it lists that twice. Also, my display adapter is Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family. Two of those as well. -
I contacted Dell and what do you know... I can't upgrade. So **** it
Graphics Card
