Since the CPU and RAM are both in one easy to access compartment I became curious as to where "roughly" the 8600M GT is located in the laptop? The left side the bottom right etc. Anyone know?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
It's one of the other two chips attached to the processor cooling solution. If you pull off the heatsink, you'll find the CPU and the two chips: one chip is made by nVidia and the other chip is made by Intel. The chip made by nVidia is the GPU and the chip made by Intel is the northbridge.

Wow, so really EVERYTHING is easily accessible in that one little compartment..........impressive.

Yeah, pretty much every major chip in your machine, minus the southbridge. I'd assume it's out of necessity: if Dell wants to make the processor easily upgradeable, they're going to have to make the heat sink easily removable. If they want to make the heat sink easily removable, they're going to have to make all the chips attached to the heat sink easily accessible... though in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter since you can't upgrade the other chips anyways.

It's also great for heat, once heat is made it gets shoved RIGHT out.
