    Hi,

    My setup is this:

I have a TV, sound system, Digital TV box and laptop. I watch TV from the Digibox and movies and some HD TV from my laptop, as it has better definition than the ordinary Sky box.

I have a Dell Studio 1555 which is generally fine. I can use it with my TV (an LG model 42LD420) provided I use the HDMI cable, but the LG has rubbish sound, so I am trying other methods of getting sound out from the PC to my sound system.

I tried using the VGA cable as the LG has VGA input, the sounds, OK from the but the resultant picture looks as though Picasso painted it, during his absinthe period. There are no driver updates for the Dell, and the TV is a TV, so I guess the same is true there, so VGA seems to be out.

I can't feed the HDMI to the TV and sound out from the TV to the sound system, as there's no sound output on the TV.

I can't feed the video out via HDMI and the sound separately through one of the audio jacks, as selecting one disables the other. This would have been the ideal scenario, as I don't want too much plugging and unplugging, as this is also my main work laptop.

Does anyone have any ideas as to either:

    Fix the VGA output
    or
Find another way of separating the video and sound output?
