This is a good forum, but i found this one:
notebookforums.com
to be a lot more helpful, because there are much more users there.

yes, that is a good forum. They've been around longer than this one, we started just last year and have grown 600% plus since that time and hope to keep growing. In general we tend to get a lot more people looking for recommendations and "newbie" types here and notebookforums.com can get a little more technical. Stick around here though, we've got a lot of reviews coming down the pipe and the site traffic grows nearly daily.

I visit notebookforums.com for one reason: spiike . He mods laptops a lot, which is really hard to find. I find this place more laid back. Maybe it's just the color scheme, but I feel less intimidated.
Completed mods:
GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)
Mods in progress:
8600c to 8600 keyboard swap (to get the eraser head).
Tweaks: Radeon 9600 pro (337/242) at 400/300

Hmm, I thought these were the only notebook forums around. They use a much better forum system (vBulletin is one of the two top forum systems), but I think the people here are better since it's more friendly around here. That site also seems to have a bias towards the more gaming oriented brands. It doesn't even list IBM on there and IBM is a top 4 manufacturer in quantity.

This place seems to be about getting the most for your money while notebookreview is for advanced users with hardware tweaks.
