Hey everyone.
Booted up my Inspiron 6000 tonight and immediately noticed three spots that are grey against a white webpage background. One spot, the biggest, is the size of a dime in length but oval shaped, located center right of my screen. A second spot is half the size, circular, and not as dark but still noticeable, located four inches below the first spot. The third spot is circular, slightly bigger than the second spot, and near the bottom center of my screen.
I immediately cleaned my screen with "clean dr." but this didn't get rid of the spots. I definitely did not spill anything on the screen. The screen is always closed shut when the laptop is not in use. They just appeared out of nowhere tonight.
Any ideas as to what has caused these spots to suddenly appear? They are definitely not dead pixels (i have one of those in the lower right hand corner already). Do you think this is a problem with my lcd screen? Will I need to replace it? If so, how much will that cost, and how should I go about doing that?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Is it a glossy screen? I'll take a stab at it.
I bet you 5 dollars that it is the glossy film coating peeling off from the actual panel. That's what it sounds like anyway. Can you get a couple pics?
I might very very gently rub / put pressure on that area to see if it moves around or disappears sort of like a sticker misapplied.
Do you still have a warranty? -
Usually these are called press spots which can occur when your laptop had its lid squished either in a bag or by putting something on top of the laptop.

Sorry for not providing the info before. No, it's a matte screen.
I had nothing on top of the laptop. It stays closed in my bedroom when not in use. Nothing gets placed on top of it.
