I want to buy a D620 latitude (with 14.1 WXGA+ screen) but haven't yet because of the LCD screen problem that has been mentioned here before.
Anybody know if I will be guaranteed a bad LCD screen if I order now? Or is there a chance I might get a good screen? Any advice or comments on whether to try to hold off longer or not would be much appreciated.

here's the thing...if you go in thinking you are gonna get a bum screen chances are you will think you have a bum screen when you get it. The screens that I have gotten from Dell have for the most part all been very good. It is generally people who are VERY particular about light leakage. When you get your screen check it, post a pic and you will find that many people will say its good and many will say its bad. It is really just a matter of opinion. If I were you I would order it, if you are satisfied then just get them to send you a new screen, they are not difficult to switch out and then just keep doing that until you are satisfied. You will be hard pressed to get a perfect screen.

Recently I saw a D620 for the first time (in a university store) and the screen looked just fine to me. I had read about the alleged problems in this forum but could see nothing wrong with the display. I thought that the D620 was very well built, with a beautiful screen.

I just received my d620 last week with the WXGA+ screen and have no complaints. I don't see the "sparkling" effect so many others have talked about. There is a small amount of light leakage at the bottom of the LCD, but it doesn't bother me at all.
Guaranteed bad LCD screen w/ D620 purchase?
