    Guide: How to "Clean Install" Dell SupportAssist

    Having trouble installing or updating Dell SupportAssist? This guide will help you uninstall the currently installed version, get rid of all its remnants and install the latest version.

    1) Restart your computer

    2) As soon as you get to the desktop, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features

    3) Right click on Dell SupportAssist from the list of installed apps then choose " Uninstall"

    4) Restart your computer

    5) Make sure you have enabled " Show hidden files" from Explorer options.

    6) Locate the below folders and delete the manually:

    C:\ProgramData\PCDr\
    C:\ProgramData\PC-Doctor, Inc
    %Appdata%\PCDr
    C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent
    C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssist


    7) Press the Window + R keys on your keyboard to launch the " Run dialogue box" then type: regedit then hit Enter.

    8) Locate the following keys and delete them:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PC-Doctor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\PC-Doctor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\SupportAssistAgent


    9) Reboot

    10) Download the latest Dell SupportAssist Installer from here >>> https://downloads.dell.com/serviceability/catalog/SupportAssistInstaller.exe

    11) Make sure the file is NOT blocked by right clicking on it then choosing " Properties", if you see a message at the bottom of the properties screen saying " This file came from the internet and might be blocked.....etc.." Click on the Unblock checkbox, hit " Apply" then " Ok" to exit

    12) Right click on the file you just downloaded ( SupportAssistInstaller.exe) and choose " Run as administrator" and wait for it to download the latest version of SupportAssist and install it.
