Guys, we have a Studio 17, is the trackpad really bad?

We don't use it much we use a mouse with it but yesterday I was trying to use it (didn't have the mouse) and the trackpad feels sticky like I was dragging my finger across it and it felt like the pointer wasn't tracking my finger well, it would stutter. Now, keep in mind that i also have a Studio XPS and an XPS 15 and their trackpads do not exhibit these issues. I want to understand whether the Studio 17 has an inferior trackpad to the XPSs or whether the trackpad on our Studio 17 is defective. We have 3 months of warranty left so I need to make sure.

    Shouldn't be an issue, afaik.
Have you updated the drivers for it? -and/or checked the mousepad-settings in the controlpanel?

    check your sensitivity settings

also if you still have warranty i'd go ahead and get it replaced, its fairly easy to replace

Yeah, I played with the sensitivity, even at the most sensitive setting it seems to skip. it's really much worse than the two xps systems.

there is one setting to check that has to do with how the touchpad reacts to unintended contact you might look into that one as well....

i'd say if you have warranty just get on tech support chat and explain you have checked drivers, have latest updates and that it basically is not working correctly and ask for a replacement palm rest as the touchpad is integrated into it, you might also ask for the center control cover in case it breaks...assuming your comfortable doing this yourself instructions are here
