Is it normal to have 50 deg C on the hard drive when I have only two firefox browsers open? The idle temperature is 50?.Is it normal to have this temp or is there something to worry about? I use NHC to monitor the temperature. Are there any other software apart from NHC to verify the HD temperature?Could you please please let me know the idle HD temperature in your laptops? (E1505 in particular)

The temperature is okay, but it is a little on the higher side. Something like 40 to 45 C is quite normal, but some notebooks are a little more or less, because they have slightly better ventilation. A temperature that is a few degrees more, doesn't make much difference in terms on longevity, as notebook hard drives are deisgned to operate at high temperatures. If you fell the temperature is too high, or the notebook gets quite warm around the hard disk area, you may want to consider purchasing a notebook cooler. They are quite well priced, and can cool the notebook, by increasing the airflow underneath it.
