    HDD click writing noise, with no indexing, m1330

    my 160gig 7200 rpm hdd has a click writing noise that is always on, its not too loud, but is definately audible while the room is quiet, i have turned off all windows indexing.. Is this bad or just annoying? also who is the manufacture of our hdd?

    I have the same hard drive noise(nothing to complain about though). Mine is a seagate.

    Mine is a Seagate as well. doesn't bother me much since I'm too bothered by the whine to notice!

    The noise is not abnormal. Some drives (varies by manufacturer) make an audible noise when parking the heads. Have you tried adjusting the HDD settings in the BIOS. You can adjust it to Quiet or Performance (or compatible). Try each setting to see if one works better than the other.
