    Hi all!

I have a small (anoying) problem: my HDD doesn't stop working for quite some time after restart or power on. It's my 3rd fresh install and its behaviour is the same. I don't know what's using it.

At least 6-7 minutes after restarting the laptop it keeps working, the led stays on and I can hear it.

Any suggestions? What can I do to make it stop sooner?

    (Specs in sig.)

Pretty sure it'll be vista superfetch. Google for it.

It's not just the Superfetch. Click on the properties of the drive and uncheck Index this drive for faster searches.

I always do that right after installing Windows. I hate indexing. ;)

    Thanks anyway.

Indexing is great. Once it finishes its done. It speeds up instant searching (which is a big feature of vista). Just leave the laptop on for a day and it will be done.
