Anyone think that Dell is going to refresh their monitor line soon to include HDMI inputs? I'm getting the m1330 and want an external monitor for home. I think it is pretty silly that the Dell monitors have DVI and the m1330 only has HDMI. I might end up with the BenQ FP241W...

P.S. I know I can get a converter cable and use a Dell monitor through DVI...I just think it's sort of annoying.

Well, you won't see a difference between HDMI and DVI on smaller monitors, because they're both purely digital signals. Although HDMI natively carries audio as well. It's not really THAT much of a hassle just to buy a cable and not limit your options.

There is no difference between HDMI and dual-link DVI in image and bandwith. Single-link DVI only supports 1080p, whilst HDMI and dual link support 1600p, the only difference is that HDMI supports 8 channels of sound (7.1) however monitors do not support that lol, thats why I prefer my current setup of DVI to my hdtv and an optical to my receiver.

If you have a HDMI->DVI converter, it doesn't matter. It's all digital anyways.

But you're right - DVI also takes up a large space on the monitor I/O. However, HDMI's audio output is sort of wasted on those monitors. I think you'll probably see DisplayPort start popping up soon. I believe Dell is supporting that standard.

I dont think monitors will ever have HDMI inputs because HDMI includes audio as well.... DVI itself is digital and there will not be much difference between DVI and HDMI...
