Hi all, i am having a lan party this friday, but my new M90 (with the fx2500 w/ 512 dedicated!!! :D ) will come between wednesday and friday. the lan party is in the morning, and there may be a chance that i won't have it in time!!! :( I was just at a lan party without a comp, fun, but not that fun. So is there a way to stop by the fed ex place or speed up delivery? My comp has already been shiped from dell yesterday. any suggestions are appriciated.

You might be able to call your local FedEx hub and ask them to hold your order for pick up (meaning you go and pick it up), but you'd have to make arrangements with FedEx beforehand. It also depends on where you live too - if you live in or near a fairly large city, there'll probably be a hub where you can do this - if you live out in the middle of nowhere, you might have a little trouble being able to do this.

With Fed-ex and UPS(I think Dell uses UPS, dont remember though) most of their contracts such as with Dell, specify they have to try to deliver once before you can pick up, unless it is an engine(dont ask me how I know this).

I know with UPS (cause thats how my system was sent) it has to have 1 delivery attempt before it can be picked up.

Had you known about this earlier you could've talked to Dell and gotten your shipping changed to next day, they're pretty nice if you explain the problem.

Yea UPS, USPS, Fedex, all require a delivery attempt before you can goto the hub and pick it up. They wont intercept it for any reason except if dell tries to cancel it.

If it'll give you any hope:my computer set to arrive on a Thursday (after being shipped on a Monday) and it arrived on Wednesday. There's always hope.

Check your tracking number, if it says it's slated to arrive on a certain day, it will 90% of the time be there that day, 9% of the time be there a day before, and 1% be late. Well, those are sorta my results... though the only time I had a late package was about a week before Christmas. I'd bet it's a safe bet you'll get your computer Wednesday or Thursday.

Luckily, so far I have been pleasantly suprised with the speed of Dell shipping. I have always received my computers a couple days before they said they would be there. Cross your fingers, keep checking the tracking number and be there when they deliver. Good luck.

ups will let you pick it up at the hub, you just have to call them before it gets loaded on the truck, I do it all the time
