    I'm having problems with my laptop, and i mean A L O T . I don't know much about Laptops or how they work so i'm in search of answers. Lets see, where should i start. Introducing my Laptop! :] i have a Dell Inspiron 1501, runs with Vista and recently something weird happened to my laptop and it freaked me out. The screen just went black and it gave out a loud beep. Couple seconds later though the screen went back to life. I tried to restart the computer and for some reason it just wouldn't restart.

    Also later that day i was chatting online and it completely shut down on me without notice or anything. I tried turning it on a couple times and it just kept giving out on me, the laptop would just keep shutting down on its own. After a couple tries, it went to the screen where it says "didn't shut the laptop down properly" and gave me selections for "Safe Mode, Normal mode, etc..." Also there was something going on, like.. Writing going on, don't really know how to explain it. Of course i chose normal mode and it's been working properly, i think. Or it appears to be running properly.

    I also get this message, i can't quite remember how it goes, but it would say something like the laptop couldn't identify the adapter, i'm thinking something about the power cord or battery? Another minor problem is that sometimes when i use the internet i would get the "Internet not responding" error.

    Should i have any concerns for these things to be happening to my laptop? If so, how or what would i need to do to fix them? Thanks.

    It would really help if you can give the exact error...it's really hard to tell. Even if you call Dell, their CS rep would probably ask you of the same thing.

    You can try looking in the Event Viewer. But it is sort hard to decipher. Usually only trained MS Tech would be able to tell, but you might still get some clue.

    Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tool->Event Viewer->Windows Log->System

    If it's a beep, is there a possibility that it could be hardware related?

    Kind of vague. Sounds like it could be a LOT of things unfortunatly. Make sure you're using anti-malware and anti-virus software that's up to date (and real, not malware pretending to be anti-malware, etc.)

    Personally I'd run Dell's hardware diagnostics, and then Memtest on it overnight to help rule out hardware and RAM errors.
