    How's it going everyone,

Just today my Inspiron stopped reading any CD that was put in the drive. You can hear it spin for a quick second, then stop, and spin again, and stop, and so on. I can no longer burn any CD because a dialogue box says to insert a brand new CD, but every CD I put in is brand new. It's the same CDs I've always used when writing CDs. Can someone please help me out??

I've already tried uninstalling the driver for the drive and then restarted...but that didn't fix it. It's still doing the same thing. Help!

CD Drive is really an enigma. Pretty much nobody knows one exact solution for each symptom it shows...it could be anything. But from your description, you can try to clean the laser of the drive. If that doesn't help, it seems like your drive is defective now. Time for a warranty call...
