Hi,
I've only had my dell for a year and 3 months and the battery was fine then it suddenly died! It only lasts about 30minutes now and before it use to last 3+hours. Also when I turn on my laptop a message pops up saying its at the end of its usable life. Does anyone know if the battery is damaged or if dell will send a replacement. It was completely fine then just died, it was NOT a gradual decrease.
Any advise or help will be greater appreciated. THANKS,
btw I have a inspiron 640m

Do you still have the warranty? and what kind?
-
Battery warranties only goes for 1 year...

Unfortunately you're SOL. As Acorn mentioned, Dell only warrants batteries for 1 year....after that, too bad.
Best to try find one on eBay as new from Dell can be expensive (however come with the 1 year warranty). -
Yea, just checked on ebay, can get one for around $45ish. But I was wondering if all dell batteries are this way, or was I just unlucky?

Dell has a recall out on several batteries they have out across several different models.
Go to www.dellbatteryprogram.com and it'll tell you where to look on your battery to see if your machine is part of the battery recall- i've known several people who had this problem and qualified for replacements.
