Im running the 78.51 drivers on my i9300. I just got it the other day, and its been fine. Now when i play games, (counterstrike Source) there is a yellow line that randomly flashes vertically down the screen (towards the center-left hand portion). It starts out being very random and about one min between flashes, and throughout the game it gets more and more frequent.

    Does anyonoe know whats wrong??

    (ive got 512 MB, 7200 rpm 60 gig, go 6800, PM 1.86)

Try reinstalling the drivers for the screen. If it doesnt work then try previous drivers and this should fix your problem.

Call Dell and see what they can do. If your under warranty and dont mind the computer gone you can send it in or have a tech come out. I believe in Daytona there are outlets around there.

Man i love daytona, but i would have a tech come out and see if possible.

Is this only happening when you are playing games? or during normal surfing.

ok, another update... when i was having the screen glitches, i had had the computer on for about 2 days. the thing is, i had the screen turn off after 5 min of inactivity, and i left everything else on for downloading purposes. I figured that with the screen off, the glitch i was having couldnt be attributed to the screen "overheating" or something.
I turned off the computer, let it sit for about a few hours, and tried again. this time i played counterstrike for about 30 minutes and nothing has happened to far (knock on wood).
Has anyone here experianced issues with leaving the computer on for extended periods of time? i wouldnt think this *could* cause issues since the fans keep everythign cool and at normal operating temperates (my system is around the 40 - 42 C mark...)

    anyone?

It shouldn't matter if you've simply reformated as they will be doing diognostics before selling it as referb. Send that back, if they prompt you for restocking, try being assertive and getting out of that fee. Seems like a ridiculus fee to me. Sorry if I offend anyone with their own business who charges a restocking fee but get your hands out of our pockets ;).

Yes, you need to get that fixed. How long have you had this laptop (More than a month?) and what warranty do you have?

the laptop came by UPS on the 23rd of this month, so ive had it for only a few days. this yellow line thing didnt start happening until yesterday. its very annying, especially since the laptop is so new!
Do you think if i say to Dell that im just not satisfied with the laptop, and that since im getting these problems, that i just want to return it. I really hope i can get out of the restocking fee.

You might be able to get out of the restocking fees by arguing that the computer is defective. This is from their return policy located on their website ( http://www1.us.dell.com/content/top.../policy?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~section=010#hardware )

Restocking Fees: Unless the product is defective or the return is a direct result of a Dell error, a restocking fee of 15% may be charged on hardware, accessories, peripherals, parts and unopened software still in its/their sealed package, and on software that has not been downloaded if the software is delivered electronically.
