its been exactly 15 days that ive had my xps 1530 with minimal problems, (random restarts sometimes while im gaming). but today i opened my laptop to find the screen is completely dim (like almost pitch black), if i really squint at the screen i can make out Vista asking me for my password. I dont know what to do, Ive tried restarting.... nothing, ive tried pressing Fn UP arrow to increase the brightness....nothing , i dont know what else to do other than call Dell. Before i do that I just wanted to see what you guys have to say.

    thanks in advance

Can you connect an external monitor? If an external monitor works, your LCD backlight on the M1530 may be bad. I would call Dell in any case.

whoa, so while frantically dialing dell i thought of something. (taking out the battery). I took it out, and put it back in, turned the machine off and on, and ALLAHKHAZAM the screen is back and bright.

but srsly wtf ? (a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders)
