I would check if it is stolen or not first. Since they have that Lojack thing now, it would totally suck if cop knock on your friends door while he is downloading illegal movies and musics on the net.
After that check for flaws, and make sure it turns on. Then talk about warranty transfer.

Generally, I'd say anything that's falling off, cracking, sparking or being engulfed in flames is all good points to watch out for.

    :D

As for the ownership thing, if it's still under warranty, The original owner will have to get the service tag changed to you're friends name. Otherwise Dell will think that system is stolen or something. Regardless they won't help him likely.

i totally agree, one thing my friend afraid of is buying a stolen good esp laptop. That would suck BIG time since he won't get warrenty and maybe get caught by cops =(

question is can you transfer owndership of the M1330 yourself? or you need the owner to do it????

Cuz on the transfer form theres only need owner's name email and the Serial number.

Check that it fires up and test it out for at least 30 minutes if poss..
And make sure to ask for all the disk.. Vista, Drivers, Mediadirect, Cyberlink webcam, Microsoft Works, and so other junk...

Make sure this person has ID with them and just get them to call Dell sales or tec support and get them to confirm their details with Dell in your company..
And then you ask to speak with the Dell rep and tell them your about to take over ownership of said unit please transfer details into My.....etc etc..
