when MD install finishes, you need to eject the disc and put your vista dvd BEFORE you hit any key to restart (be sure to press F12 after that). thats the only time you can use the eject button

my eject button works in the BIOS, before the OS loads. I wonder why some systems are different.

yeah the eject button isn't software its a hardware button. Mine works all the time infact I accidently ejected the disc when vista was installing it had copied 3% of files and I went to wipe away some dust & the disc ejected :p

It must be hardware eject button. Anyways, if it doesn’t work then, check for an emergency eject pin hole. Usually there is a small hole near the drive to insert a pin to manually eject in case of an emergency (even without power).

yeah but isn't that usually on the regular DVD drives? I have yet to hear someone say they have found the manual eject button, but if so, I would like to know where it is!
