What exactly is a "retarded bootloop thing"? Knowing exactly what he did would help us fix it.

If you really don't care about your data, use the Windows recovery CD, format your hard drive and reinstall Windows from scratch.

Did you try the Startup Recovery option? This will recopy essential system files over; it solves various boot up problems frequently.

Also, if you must reformat, make your friend do it. He's the one who hosed your system.

If you don't have a Windows disk, call Dell and ask them to send you one. They should send it for free. If for any reason they don't want to, you can also contact Microsoft for a disk, although they will charge you $10 or so.

What number should I call for free hard drives?? :)

Kinda strange because I'm pretty sure it's software related problem.

    DON'T REFORMAT

I looked this up on youtube ... might be simple to fix.

Sounds like he made a shortcut, entered that and has it run automatically on startup.

As quick as you can, run shutdown -h on login

Press [windows key] r and type shutdown -h

This will cancel the shutdown. Delete the shortcut on the desktop.
