    I have been charging my Inspiron 1545 with a PA4E charger for several months and had not noticed any problems until this week. Now when I push and hold the power button nothing happens - no sound no lights nothing. Same result with battery only, battery and adapter, and adapter only. I have misplaced the adapter that came with Laptop and need to get laptop on this weekend to resolve an income tax audit issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I would try;

    1) Testing your AC adapter with a multimeter
    2) Using a known good Dell 65W or 90W adapter
    3) Removing the battery and AC adapter and holding down the power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times, and see if it powers on.

    After that, you likely have a power circuitry problem with the motherboard.

    If worse comes to worse you can take the hard drive out, and set it up as a external drive on a different PC

    Hello Robin Procter,
    My name is Anue and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

    From the information provided by you, we understand that the system doesn’t power on at all.

    As suggested in the above post, you could try using a working Dell charger and if the issue still persists, it definitely points out to the Motherboard.

    Kindly update the results and we would be glad to assist you further.
    Thanks & Regards
