I just got a new E1705, and reformatted. My dvds wont play it says im missing a decoder...Can someone help me please? My dvd rom is 24x combo CD-rw/dvd (phillips) and my package list includes something called cyberlink powerdvd 5.7, but i cant find this on my applications disk.

On a side note this whole reformatt thing has been a pain in the ass, i kinda regret doing it.

Dell does not supply that cd without request. Your options are to either call dell and ask for them to send the disk or just get a new dvd decoder. When i re-formatted i upgraded to nero 7, much better.

Install CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). That will add MPEG2 and other popular video codecs.

Or you can use an open source player like VLC (which comes with built-in codecs) to play DVDs and other popular video types.
