Tried Media Direct by turning on the laptop with the media direct button
I wanted to see a dvd movie I bought on Amazon UK a couple of years ago. Original DVD, not a backup copy. Media direct says "sorry this is the wrong regional code" and asks me if I want to change or keep the DVD regional code (I expected that to be already set, thanks Dell - and no, the DVD region code is correct for my country). I choose to keep the regional code because I wanted to see if Windows gave me the same message and then chose "exit" among the different menus .
I am stuck with a black screen, an arrow pointer and I can't turn the computer off. Tried to press the power button for several seconds (up to 15-20 secs). Nope it won't shut down. Tried media dell direct, too.
I am stuck, with a fully charged battery.
How do I turn the computer off?
Someone please help.

If holding down the off button doesn't work then pull out the power cable and remove the battery.

Won't that damage the notebook?
Ok, you wouldn't have suggested this if it were so...
This is my first day with my first personal notebook.
Oh well I wanted to remove media direct, anyway. Now I've got one more reason to do that.
Thanks for your prompt reply (both of you).
