Title says it all, is there anything I can do? I'm running XP. The system itself is nearing two years old. I've been through a reformat, if that would make any difference.

    Suggestions?

hmm! at idle...personally I think it should be no more than 50C and @100%...should be no more than 80C...

But me being me I go cry about it when it goes above 45C idle and 70C max...LOL

Also which program are you using to monitor the temp?

    ACPI/THM (I dont know what this is) - 38
    Intel Core Duo - Core #0 37 degrees, Core #1 32 degrees
    HDD - 46

ACPI/THM (I dont know what this is) 63
    Intel Core Duo - Core #0 62 degrees, Core #1 58 degrees
    HDD - 46

These numbers seem low due to what you mentioned. Keep in mind, I know little about computers. Im basing this off the fact that it feels hot on my legs :p

I downloaded HWmonitor.exe to get the temps and used the ORTHOS program for the stress to get the maximums.

Since you have an E1505, try getting a hold of a program called I8kfanGUI. It's a great fan/temp utility that allows you to not only monitor your GPU and CPU temps but control their fan speeds.

Did a great job on my E1705. My CPU never went above 46C on 100% load.

See, the thing about that is....my temps dont seem too outrageous.

Why does it feel so hot? It's quite uncomfortable

    38C ~ 100.4F

Basically, anything above your current body temperature is going to feel hotter (hence why you touch a warm baby bottle on your wrist to distinguish if the bottle is too hot).

Also, your HDD temp isn't change much at all. Since it's 46C most of the time, that's going to burn up your legs pretty bad after a while.

Just get that program I said earlier and I guarantee your temps will be much cooler and tolerable, especially with your notebook sitting on your lap.
