A clean windows installation is the only sure way of getting rid of all that junk.

Believe it or, when my system arrived. Besides diagnostic software which i don't really bother with and lame ass Norton.. there wasn't anything as far as crap-ware on the machine.. Kudos for Dell on that new path their taking.

Well, there was Google Toolbar, which I removed right away. I later reinstalled from scratch and ended up installing most of the pre-installed apps (the burning program, Quickset, Dell Touchpad) since that allows you to have all the functionality.

Would formatting my computer right away be the best option?
if so, how do i do it without the vista cd? or is it supposed to come with it... would i have to reinstall all the drivers? or does that come standard with installing vista

When you get you're system. It will have a recovery partition, that will have all the bloat ware and junk I believe, not sure cuz I just deleted it instantly.

Just pop in that Vista CD which is pretty much a clean box install.

    Problem solved.

Take a look at my Clean Install article below. It may help. As well, the tweaking thread after that would assist. You get alot more bloatware than you think. Norton is a terrible program for leaving files that can later slow your system.

Take a look at your startup file and see whats there...you will be surprised I bet.

Something that really messed with me was the "Google Sidebar" which replaced the Vista Sidebar. I noticed that it was different, and sure enough...
I immediately uninstalled Google Desktop and toolbar, which had the Google Sidebar with it, and opened up the Vista sidebar.
