Forums are a bad place to make this kind of judgement.

For every person who posts about a problem they have with their 1330, there has to be 100 who are using it without any problems.

If you look for problems, you will notice them (however minor they may be). QC issues aside, the m1330 is a beautiful machine, and aesthetically just doesn't compare to the m1530 (albeit slightly less powerful - although I did get the penryn chip with the 1330).

If it doesn't have the CPU whine, it's absolutely a perfect machine. But I am hesitant to vote yes because the CPU whine is not really a minor problem.

my gf's m1330 had its sticker come off the back lcd lid the first day it was turned on. the laptop heats up pretty fast but i'm guessing it's because of 8400M GS. it seems like a solid notebook but there aren't many 13" alternatives except the Sony SZ.

I guess there's different degrees of loudness in the whines because compared to the LCD whine I got on a replacement unit, the CPU whine seemed almost non-existent. But on my original unit, the LCD whine (every LCD has whine, but in different degrees in loudness) was less noticable than the CPU whine...It really is YMMV.

No whine, grain, or other complaints here. I'm very happy with my 1330. However, Dell Customer Service sucks....

I love your review, I'm concerned though about the vibration of
my machine. The fan seems to always run and I think that is what is causing it. Otherwise I love this notebook.
Just not sure about that vibration.
It isn't like one I recently received, that shook, but it's subtle..
Particularly with a dvd in .

Which hard drive do you have? 7200rpm or 5400rpm?

That's the CPU, not the hard drive. Maybe you can check your spec sheet to see which hard drive you chose.

I have a few build issues, i actually find dell customer service is really good, but the contracted technicians are pretty average.

Maybe if you have the 5400 it will not vibrate so much since its spinning slower..I don't know..

I'd heard about reseating the harddrive but wasn't sure if
    that would help.
