    Hi!
I am making a switch. HP is terrible when it comes to reporting the truth. The 6000t listed below is going back to Costco as an hour on a brand new laptop is unacceptable and Tech Support is awful.
I am looking for good battery life, a C2D processor and enough system to run Adobe CS2 and possibly a game. Nothing too intense on the game but I do want a 14 inch if possible. Saw a friends D620 and wanted to drool but need something less than $1100 so I have been looking at the Dell Outlet. The 1405 looks like an option even with the 950gpu as it's very affordable.. Anyone have any feedback?

Sometimes the truth hurts, depends on the question and what your getting saved from.

Most of us have had good luck with Dell but there are always the exceptions with support and workmanship.

Lots of happy 1405 - 1705 users here.

    Thanx for the encouragement Hydra.....

There are always lemons but I think the 6000 series suffers from design flaws in the system itself when it comes to power usage...

Does anyone have a history with the Dell Outlet?

After talking to the business sales and the Outlet I have to agree. Very easy to talk with and quite helpful in looking for the best product..... I'll be purchasing asap from dell's outlet, can't wait...

RDTigger - Could I ask what the problem was/is with the 6000t? I see quite a bit of difference between a 6000t/15" and a 1404/14" The 6000t has a fairly decent graphics card versus GMA 950 on the 1405. I have a dv2000t, with both an XP hdd and a Vista hdd, and I am very happy with it. I have handled at least five 6000t's (in various PX's) and they seem equally nice - much sleeker than either the Dell 1404 or e1505....

I purchased an e1705 from the Dell Outlet. I was disappointed with the XGA+ screen, so I returned it and ordered a different system, again from the Outlet. I didn't have any problems with the return or with either order. I received both orders within 4 days of placing the order.

I was a skeptic at first when ordering from dell, but the process turned out to be fairly simple and painless. The system itself isn't really a looker, but it gets the job done. I think the quality is one up from HP (mainly due to the fact that the keyboard shows less flex and the screen doesn't produce ripples when pressed from the back). I would rather wait for Dell to give out crazy coupons rather than buy from an outlet, but that's just my opinion.

Anyways, best of luck to u and hope u would like ur dell if u decide to get one.

If looks could kill the DV series from HP would be undebatable. However, even though the GPU and CPU have been great, I need something more portable. It can be carried anywhere and I contemplated the 2000t before realizing battery life throughout the HP DV line is terrible unless you attach the enormous 12 cell.

I would like something sleek and a tad bit more function. I like the systems in this order D620>D520>e1405. I want the D620 with a Quadro GPU for what little gaming this laptop will see yet be capable of sizing down in order to handle the Office and Adobe.

Also stated the Dell people so far have run circles around the HP Tech support I recieved and I haven't yet purchased a laptop!

I know you have some bad experiences with HP, but you might want to look at their nx7400, nc8430, and nc6400 as well as the D820 and D620. All five notebooks will have a quality superior to the dv6000t you returned.
