I recently have been searching for a budget notebook pc. I started by going to gateway, dell and some other places. I decided on the dell inspiron 1100. I was all set on ordering it and was hype about getting it until i found a HP Pavilion ze4610us for $750 after mail in rebate. I think I got a good deal. It has a 1.87gHZ athlon, 64MB Radeon Mobility card, 256 RAM, a DVD/CD-RW drive, and 15 inch screen. Dell would have givin me a pc with the same specs (except I wouldn't be able to play games and Dell has a smaller screen) for $836.00. I think I got a better deal on a better system. What do ya'll think about my new computer.

I think you made the right choice. The 64 MB grahpics card is the key, which the 1100 does not offer.

trezmac,
When you said that you wouldn't have been able to play games on the Dell, exactly what did you mean?
You did get a great deal on your HP. Anytime you can get a Pentium 4 or Athlon XP, DVD-CDRW combo, AND a 15" display in a notebook for under $800, it's terrific. -
I recently bought an HP laptop too. Mine was the HP ze5570US 15" with P4 2.66 Ghz, 60GB hard drive, 512 MB, 64 MB Ati Radeon video card. I was originally thinking about getting a Dell until I found this one. After all the rebates, it cost mea bout I would say $800, Which is way less than its Dell counterpart. In any case, like what all the other kind people here had written to the topic I had posted about their opinions about HP laptops, not only is HP a reputable brand but at the end, it all boils down to getting the specs you wanted for the least price. I mean a p4 for less than $1000 is definitely hard to resist! I guess the reason why Dell is so popular is because admittedly, they do have a very effective marketing strategy with that popular Dell dude and all. [
] Either way, I think what you got was a really good buy. Enjoy your new toy!
