Ok, so I accidentally downloaded the Catalyst drivers for my Dell Inspiron 8600. Through some idiotic method, I installed something or other.

I was playing videos on my Windows Media Player. Previously, when I played these videos on full size mode, the entire video covered the entire screen (seeing that its a widescreen monitor). After installing these new drivers by accidental, when I play videos in full size mode, it doesn't cover widescreen and there's black bars on either side. I uninstalled those drivers, went to the Dell website and got the old drivers back I guess. But when I still play these videos, they no longer act in widescreen. I have absolutely no idea what to do now. Someone help

By the way, the video card is the ATI mobility 9600 128 MB.

I suspect it might be a Windows Media Player thing. When I use Dell Media Experience to play videos, they play in widescreen format. So, I don't understand why my Window Media Player has reverted to a non widescreen mode when I'm playing anything in full screen mode. Is there anyway to fix this?

See if there is a Screen Stretching option in the Display Properties (Advanced Options). This option may be disabled.
