    i have dell xps m1330

    the question is how would i know what is the speed of the hard drive that i have on my laptop

    i ordered mine with 5400 RPM, bt i thinnk dell gave me faster one, bt im not sure

    dell would not just give you a faster one, maybe our hdd is just really big and big hard drives usually have higher data density so appear to be fast
    also 5400 is not slow

    Well, if its 320GB then its definitely running at 5400rpm, however because of the data density, its equivalent to the speed of a 200 at 7200 rpm. But you could use a program called hdtune to find the model of your hd, and then google it.

    chk your service tag...although they could have made an error so that me be incorrect as well...you could scan your systen on the dell support site and it will read your config..cheers!!!!

    you can find by the name of of HDD...use a program like HDtune and it will tell u the name
