great question.. I have a dell xps m1330 and just got a 320gb hard drive. I have not installed due to me not really knowing how to partition this baby up
-
320 GB HD
40 for vista OS
125 for downloads, and back up.
130 for programs, and games. -
120 gb, fujitsu, 5400 rpm
2 gb = swap file (made by mistake)
14.6 gb = windows (it's d:\, duh)
14.6 gb = programs and games
39 gb = music
41.4 = documents and others -
120gb hdd
20gb Vista OS
10gb Music
30gb Movies
60gb Programs and Documents
500gb external
300gb movies
100gb music
100gb backups -
35GB - Vista and Programs
10GB - Documents
100GB - Multimedia
120GB - Games
Approx 120GB unallocated for future use.
Once I get my M1330, I will probably partition up very similar sizes to the above. -
I have 200Gb
60Gb vista and programs
124Gb docs
How do you put your programs in a partition other than C:? -
160GB
50GB = Vista & Programs
110GB = Music, Movies, etc.
. -
200 GB
50 GB XP + Program Files + Games
100 GB Movies + Documents
50 GB Lunix (swap + ext3 +ext2)
you can move the mydocuments folder/firefox settings folder
also when you install stuff you can choose which partition to install during setup but keep in mind if you format the OS partition then all of those programs will be "severed" and unusable. You could back up the regestry, but when you restore it you will get all the junk you tried to get rid of when you formatted. -
Only one but I have a 500 gb ext that holds all the movies music etc...so I keep this one pretty clean...I run it off my desktop via wireless and hook the hdmi up and it works awesome...

252GB - Data
