    Hard Drive Partitioning...how do you do yours?

    Just like the topic says...what size hard drive do you have, and how have you partitioned it?

    Just curious what everyone around here is doing! :)

    great question.. I have a dell xps m1330 and just got a 320gb hard drive. I have not installed due to me not really knowing how to partition this baby up

    40 for vista OS

    125 for downloads, and back up.

    130 for programs, and games.

    120 gb, fujitsu, 5400 rpm

    2 gb = swap file (made by mistake)
    14.6 gb = windows (it's d:\, duh)
    14.6 gb = programs and games
    39 gb = music
    41.4 = documents and others

    Once I get my M1330, I will probably partition up very similar sizes to the above.

    124Gb docs

    How do you put your programs in a partition other than C:?

    110GB = Music, Movies, etc.

    50 GB XP + Program Files + Games
    100 GB Movies + Documents
    50 GB Lunix (swap + ext3 +ext2)

    you can move the mydocuments folder/firefox settings folder
    also when you install stuff you can choose which partition to install during setup but keep in mind if you format the OS partition then all of those programs will be "severed" and unusable. You could back up the regestry, but when you restore it you will get all the junk you tried to get rid of when you formatted.

    Only one but I have a 500 gb ext that holds all the movies music etc...so I keep this one pretty clean...I run it off my desktop via wireless and hook the hdmi up and it works awesome...

    I have a 160gb Hard drive..I have 100 for the OS and various Games, 50 for multimedia and stuff, and the rest for like Media Direct etc.
