Hey guys, i just bought the vostro 1500 and it came with a 120 GB 5400 RPM HDD and im thinking of upgrading to a hitachi 200GB 7200 RPM HDD now, its a little expensive so i want to know if it will cause heating issues with my laptop. And if i do this how much will the 7200 RPM Hard drive increase my performance?

Transfer speed will increase from about 35MB/s to 45MB/s, about 30%.

Access Time will decrease from about 20ms to 14ms, which again is about 30%

This will affect load and boot times which again will decrease by about 30%.

You will not experience any heat issues. Battery lifetime will decrease by about 2-5 minutes :D
