I have an xps 1210 and theres slight distortion at the top of my screen. However, the odd thing is this distortion only appears when I am on the internet screen.
Its hard to explain, its light pink blocks across the top of the internet screen. When I minimize the screen this distortion does not occcur on my regular desktop screen nor when using other programs. Im not quite sure what it is and if I should send it in for repair.
Any ideas?

Can you print screen and show us an example? That would be helpful. That is very strange. I would send it in for repair.

I will be able to post a pic tommorow.

Which browser do you use - IE or FireFox, and does the issue happen in both?
-
It could be his browser -
I have IE and I just downloaded firefox and the problem is here as well. Isnt it weird that it only happens while using the internet?
-
It might be that you don't notice it as much on your desktop as you would with your internet especially if the two are opposite (i.e is white/desktop is black). Is it only one particular site?
-
no its for every site. I jsut got a totally white desktop background and theres no distortion. Weird
-
Well the only hardware issue I could think of is that some there may be some disturbance caused by your wireless/wired connection to you computer though I highly doubt this is the case. Post a pic and your system specs and we might be able to help you a bit more.
Edit: I now see you have your specs in your sig. Is there anything else unusual with your laptop? -
yea one more thing: it makes a high pitched hum every few seconds. Extremely annoying when doing serious work.
-
Here are the pics I could take, I apologize for their poor quality.
The blue portion is what it should be but you will notice pink/white portions scattered throughout.
The first two are good; dont look at the last two they dont show anything

The fact it only happens in the browser (IE and FireFox), I'm at a loss. I suppose its possible it happens when the WiFi is active, but it seems to me that it would happen everywhere still.

Can you hold the camera further away from the screen so that the pictures will be focused? It is difficult to help based on these photos.
-
I wish I could. If I back the camera further away theres no distortion. I spent 30 minutes and this was the best I could do. I have a terrible camera if you havent noticed.
-
So should I just not send it in for repair? It only happens while using internet so it cant be monitor related.
-
Like I said, incredibly odd it'd happen in both browsers when using the internet. Outside of a virus that detects when either FF or IE are loaded and puts a pink splotch on the screen, I'm out of ideas.
And, as stated, without a better picture its kinda hard to tell what really is going on anyway. -
Can you borrow a camera from someone and post new pictures? There must be enough people with digital cameras in Tampa. I am sorry to say this but in your blurred pictures, especially the second one, it looks like the screen goes beyond the borders of the notebook, which is physically impossible, unless your display is leaking.
Hard to explain
