Ok so im in a rut here. My harddrive is failing after a fall and i'm out of warranty. I would rather not spend $120 on dell's overpriced HDDs and instead buy myself a brand new harddrive. Which brings up the question: How do i get vista on it? I have the computer. i bought vista with it . I have the original oem disk. Can i just pop in the disk that came with my computer and expect it to install vista on a fresh harddrive or will i run into some complications.
Has anyone figured out a LEGAL way to install vista on a new harddrive without buying it again?

Yeah, just have drivers you need ready from support.dell.com. Install the OS first, then chipset drivers if possible, then video, sound, etc., and be sure to keep going back to Windows update until you have everything.
Dell systems are easy to replace the hard drive on, so it should all be as painless as it's possible to be. -
Don't forget, if you need Vista SP1 you can slipstream them into a burned install disk (by using vLite):
