    1. My western digital does.

    2. That is a subjective question, which is better ford or chevy ;)

    3. Not really +-1*C at most.

My Hitachi clicked; my Seagate, generally, does not.

some do, some don't. regardless of manufacturer. People have had complaints and no single brand is exempt. Just gotta hope for the best.

My WD definitely clicks. Setting it to "performance mode" in BIOS helps a little, but not entirely.

you can completely eliminate the clicking by adjusting the advanced power level of the harddrive upon starting.

my wd scorpio 250 GB makes a rather loud clicking noise, which i eliminate by setting the power level of the hdd to 254. There's quite a few threads here explaining how.

If you get a harddrive that doesn't click, even better :)

Seagate is 100% the best out f the two.
My laptop came with a 200GB 7200rpm Hitachi drive. I still went ahead and replaced it with 2 Seagate 200GB 7200rpm drives.

Hitachi's are louder and run a little hotter.

How do I know they are louder?
Because I have 2 Latitude D620's. One is mine, and one is from work. One has a Hitachi and my home one a Seagate. I cant definately hear the difference. The Seagate is so much quieter and, in my opinion, performs better overall.
