So my XPS M1530 crashed yesterday. The laptop started making disturbing clicking noises and then just shut down. I tried booting back up, but simply heard a constant, beeping noise. Furthermore, it doesn't seem as though my hard drive is being detected any more.
Two questions. Foremost, for an issue like this, is it more appropriate to contact Dell via phone or online tech support (the laptop is currently under warranty)? Second, what can I expect from them? Will someone come down and take a look? Will they try to just give me a new hard drive (I don't think that's the sole issue)? Will I get a replacement laptop?
Thanks for any input!

There's a XPS phone number. Online chat works fine too. Regular phone number has a long holding time.

What you can expect from them depends on the warranty you purchased. If you got onsite service, then yes, they will come down and take a look. If not... well, then it's up to you to manipulate the minimum wage outsourced call center script reader into giving you what you want. You won't get a replacement laptop though.

Since you have XPS warranty, you should call the XPS hotline and they will send someone over the next buisness day to fix it at your home.
I had to do this a lot of times already (sadly), but they fixed it right away every time !
NB: make sure you prolong your warranty if its about to run out -
They will replace the hard drive only. Why do you think the issue is with something else?
They will replace the motherboard as well if you tell them that it seems to be something else but they will not replace the notebook. You need to have more than 3 service calls regarding the same issue to get a system exchanged. Even than dell will push you for repairs.
Hardware issue.
