I mean, how long does it take for units to go end of life for dell? Do they ship out much better units/units that are better OR do they keep supply of parts for entire 3 years of your CC warranty?
Anybody with knowledge about this, please respond. Thanks!

Well yes, a laptop line will usually be gone/redesigned in a year or two so if you do happen to break your laptop you will get an upgrade.
-
My work laptop was an m1210 which had some issues. I ended up getting upgraded to an m1330.
Complete care is designed to replace your laptop with an equivalent or better laptop in the event it needs to be replaced. Odds are you'll get a slight upgrade regardless. -
It's a legitimate question about a complete care warranty - it would be nice if people helped others out instead of jumping to a scamming conclusion. Heck, I think that's a great question. I purchased the complete care warranty and really don't know what it means or how it works or what others have experienced with it.
If anyone has non-vulgar valuable information - please share! -
But now, the topic that we are discussing is whether people have received different or the same laptops when their laptop, under complete care warranty, broke - regardless of cause. Cause is nowhere mentioned. I never asked anybody how - I just asked what happened.
Now, back to the topic. -
1. I'm not taking sides on morality or lack thereof of intentionally dropping or harming machines to get new ones as this is a notebook board not Ethics 'R Us forum, HOWEVER, I'm guessing Dell is aware of this "loophole" so the possibility of some customers doing just that is priced into the warranty.
2. Doing that has a serious chance of biting you in the ass since they will probably send you a NEW machine, they might not send you a BETTER machine. For example, back a few years ago, 15in Inspirons came with WUXGA resolution option. If you happened to have dropped it and expected a replacement with the similar screen, you were SOL since Dell just doesn't offer that option anymore.
There was another instance just recently that would likewise be illustrative. Dell had recently introduced and then quickly phased out a line of Inspirons (was it the 1X20s?) that had better or more robust graphics options than their successors. Those who needed replacements after the lifecycle had ended, ended up with newer but worse-speced systems or had to shell out for an XPS.
Basically, AC isn't a sure-fire lottery winner most people think it is. -
See my sig...my M1210 broke and I got the M1330, however, the M1330 I am having is the 3rd replacement...so it takes about more than two months...

This thread has really gone too far and I have no other choice than closing it - 67 posts were deleted.
Reporting the thread before would have been more useful.

Has anybody who bought accidental damage protection from Dell ever received a much better unit when yours broke?
