I've just ordered a D820, but I don't know whether it's worth or not. I give a try. Can someone give me inputs if you already received one? Thank you so much.

pics too please ! -
I ordered a Precision M65 (Same as D820) on April 1 and it shipped APril 15, still waiting on it
I plan on doing a review as soon as I get it.
I chose the M65 because it had a ship date that was nearer than the D820. It was about $150 more
How did you get the D820 so quick?????? -
I received my D820 about 2 hours ago !!!!
So far so good, I turned the screen up to the maximum brightness, WSXGA+, as I sort of thought there where some darker areas on the screen.... could just be me ?
Other than that I ABSOLUTELY love it, sure glad I did't get the D620... the screen size is great and the notebook is light as a feather.
Spec's are T2600(2.16Ghz), WSXGA+, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, DVDRW, 512MB NVIDA Graphics, Dell Wireless, Bluetooth, Docking Station and I ordered the backpack too!
I'm VERY pleased at this point. -
Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiics !!!!!

Just got mine today too. What pics do you want to see? The unit itself is pretty well depicted visually in the different reviews. I didn't bring my camera into work today, not expecting to get it so fast! But I can take some later on and post them. I agree that it is very light with the 6 cell battery - the 9 cell understandably gives it more heft (but doesn't protrude from the front of the case of course, a la the D620!).
For some reason I was expecting the outside casing to be metal, but it sure seems all plastic to me. It's more important that the internal structure is metal I suppose, just not what I expected. I am pleased by the track point button in the middle of the keyboard - the tip they ship with reminds me of the larger one on the Thinkpads, instead of the eraser tip I had on my D600 - makes me feel like I have more control. I can only pray that the dreaded 'ghost mouse' is gone... time will tell.
The included power supply only had a two prong (ungrounded) plug, while the travel adapter has the cigarette lighter plug plus a three prong plug.
I like the screen - I am used to my 2405 monitor at home now, so the widescreen feels natural. I'm not sure why so many people were complaining about the widescreen displays on the D620 and D820 when they were announced. -
Ok, here are some pics for ya...
SuperPI 2M was 1:14 (2.0GHz)

thanks for very good pics!!
can you tell me how this 512MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M card compares to ATI x1600, x1400 and similar?
Did you get Intel wireless 2200 or 3945?
Can you compare the brightness of this WSXGA+ panel to other notebooks like Fujitsu N3530, LG P1, T60p, Acer 5672, MBP or Sony 160P/C?
Does screen flexes when you press hard?
And also is it Magnesium reinforced whole casing or just the lid (or none)? -
YOU'RE BOTH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! With this discussion.
I was one mouse click away from ordering the D620 myself before finally deciding on the D820, the limited graphics option was the only thing scaring me off and causing my hesitation in the ordering of of D620 right away. Then I read the rport about the largewr capacity battery sticking out an inch in the front and thought, what kind of design oversite is that? I didn't want that at all, so finally after lots of thought went with the D820 as well. I didn't order the backpack though, with all the other options I added in I pretty much broke the bank so I'll be carrying mine around in a plastic grocery store bag for a few weeks while my finances recover.
Great pics by the way! I wish Dell had pics that good on their web site.
Ha ha ha, it's been so many years ago, I've forgotten about that old "Ghost Mouse" problem on the laptops with the track point button. That had to be one of the top 10 most annoying things I've ever experienced in my life time. You'd be setting idle and the cursor would always want to run off on it's own into one of the top corners of the screen. It would still try to move in that direction even when you were trying to move it the other way. Instinct made you always want to push even harder on the stick in the opposite direction to over come it.
Fortuneatly though that wasn't a hardware problem, it was a mouse driver problem.
Should have mine in next week sometime I hope, can't wait. -
thanks for the pics. it looks great. i want one.
