Hi everyone,
I recently received my new Inspiron 1520 (which I love!) and have been attempting to transfer files to it from my old desktop running Windows XP using the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable. First I had to update my XP machine to SP 2 in order for the Easy Transfer software to install on it. After installing the software and plugging the cable into both computers, the Easy Transfer software runs on both computers, but all I see is the same screen on each saying to plug in the cable and Windows will automatically detect the connection. A green light blinks on the cable but nothing seems to be happening. When I exit, it says something along the lines of no files will be deleted and all selections made will be lost. Has anyone else has this problem? Do I just need to sit and wait for a while? I was under the impression that I'd be able to choose which files would be transferred, etc. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

There's a review of the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable (written by Bruce E. Gold) at Amazon that tells how to use it.

Thanks for the reply. I had actually seen that before, and it doesn't really help me: I never get to see any options or status bars or opportunities to select files; the software launches on both computers and I can get as far as the screen that says "Install the Easy Transfer software and connect your computers" and has the two steps and a cartoon of a USB cord connecting a desktop and a laptop. Any thoughts?

these things are a nightmare, you're better off using a crossover cable.
Has anyone used the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable?
