Thanks, for being interested in helping me. I recently ran into a small problem where I could not launch the Webcam Console. I try, I get an hour glass, then nothing. I've tried to the best of my ability to get it to work (drivers, reinstallation, ...) and even ran FileMon to see all file activity and trace the problem right down to the dll's needed... Basically after three days, no luck.
All I need for now is someone to do two small things. Tell me if they can successfully launch the webcam console and tell me whether they can, in the console or through any other way, access gain/exposure settings and toggle on/off face tracking for their built in webcam.
Thanks a lot guys and girls.
Appreciate it.
Mike.

Yes, I can launch my console.
From the console, I can toggle on/off face tracking, but I don't know about gain/exposure. I can adjust brightness, contrast, color, burst rate, etc. -
Thanks. pixelot, would you be able to locate the file/files responsible for WebCam Console or to at least tell me what process it is in the Windows Task Manager > Processes? I am really curious and I need a way to test my system against someone else's. This is driving me nuts.
BTW, the gain/exposure should be in an advanced tab or section where you were changing brightness, etc.
Thanks, again. -
Can someone post link to the drivers for xp?
-
Ok, here's the process for the Webcam Console: OEM02Mon.exe, and I think rundll32.exe is also associated with it.
The process for Webcam Center is LiveCamDe.exe
The actual file that launches the Console is OEM02Mon.exe, which (on my system) is found in C:\drivers\camera\R160323
Maybe you deleted this folder?
I hope this helps! =^)
Let me know if there's anything else I can do... -
I just don't get it. I have that folder, that file, and every other file that I noticed was trying to be accessed when looking at FileMon logs. (FileMon is a small app that sniffs file activity.) I even noticed LiveCamDe.exe first checks if all such files are found in the C:\Program Files\DELL\DELL Webcam Manager folder and if they are not, it tries to find them somewhere else, so I tried copying all such files to that directory and now it finds them right away (which isn't really much since it saves microseconds), and still nothing. The only three files I noticed that were never really found according to FileMon were iSpeed.exe (C:\WINDOWS\system32\iSpeed.exe), SightSpeed.exe (C:\SightSpeed.exe)
and systest.sdb (C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\systest.sdb). During LiveCamDe's attempt to Launch the console, Filemon shows some pretty weird activity for LiveCamDe.exe, like trying to use a dll from a DVD Region Free (C:\Program Files\DVD Region+CSS Free\DVDShell.dll) twice. Alos, rundll32.exe fails at finding OEM02CVW.DLL (C:\PROGRAM FILES\DELL\DELL WEBCAM MANAGER\OEM02CVW.DLL) but never really tries again, three times.
Basically, I will try uninstalling everything and reinstalling and manually put all the files where they belong and see if I can minimize FileNotFound errors according to FileMon and see if I can get my hands on those files I don't have.
If you don't mind pixelot, could you check to see if you have the 3 files I mentioned above in you system: iSpeed, SightSpeed, and systest.sdb.
Thanks a lot.
Amd if anyone is curious to see the FileMon log for this event, look at my FileMon Log.txt and please rename the extension to .xls since its an Excel document but the forum wouldn't allow it to go through unless it was one of the valid extensions.
By the way, the driver is located on Dell's support webpage under mice and keybpards.
Also, perhaps this issue is due to the fact that my system is heavily customized (theme, services, startups, tweaks), but I don't see hpw any of that could affect the Webcam Console.Attached Files:

I have none of those files, although I do have C:\Windows\AppPatch\sysmain.sdb
I would try just uninstalling all the webcam stuff you can from Add/Remove Programs and then re-installing them (if you have the disks). If you don't have the disks, then ask Dell for them. -
I had the similar problem, to fix it, I changed Terminal Services service to Automatic state and reboot. It's mysterious for me why Terminal Services is needed for WebCam Console to function.
-
how do you change terminal services?

Please do not revive old threads(6 months or older), create a new one instead. This thread is closed.
Thank you.
P.S.
For XP: Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
For Vista: Control Panel->System And Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services
Have a webcam in your Vostro? Mind helping me out?
