masking tape. Yep, decided to open up the keyboard to see why my keyboard was hitting my screen and found a wad of masking tape and a broken plastic sheath all taped up to a little connector from the keyboard. So much for Dell quality![]()

I actually just finished doing that, cc'd it to the executives too. You'd think they would have removed the broken plastic sheath, instead they taped it all together in one f'in ball.
-
It might have been lunch time.
Goes to show you though, how tight the packaging gets. -
I also have a bump in my keyboard and have tried to remove it. Following the disassemble instructions on dells website, I removed the battery, but was unable to unscrew the screws. Did you remove your keyboard a different way than described? Thank you
-
remove the 2 screws in the back. Then with your battery out, open your dell's screen all the way. Slowly pry off the media control panel from the big gap in between the screen and media control panel. It should come off rather easily. Be careful of the thin cable that connects the media control panel to your laptop.

Yea that is what i tried to do but I was unable to unscrew the two screws. If there is any other way to remove the keyboard your input would be greatly appreciated.

That's terrible...

So messed up.
Has your screen been damaged or scratched at all from the contact with the keyboard? If so, I wouldn't accept anything less than a replacement computer. Certainly not their apologies, if you're lucky enough to get that.
Why would they even have masking tape on hand for computer assemblies? Painting a lot of crown moulding? -
Screen just has a very minute scratch to it. I use this cleaning gel for lcd screens and I can't even notice it unless I specifically look for it after applying the gell. I plan on upgrading the screen shortly so it's not worth my time to ship it back and possibly get a crappier product in return.
As for Dell, I cc'd it right up the corporate ladder and received no response. Didn't really expect one to be honest other than to deny deny deny. Weasels. -

The two screws were too tight and i began to strip them so I decided to stop before causing too much damage. Is there any other way to remove the keyboard?
-
I had to lean really hard down and turned to get those screws out, if you keep trying you will get it. trust me.
-
Alright thanks

It worked? when your done with those screws call up dell and tell them they ship you faulty screws that are hard to get a=out and they will sell you a screw kit for free.
