Hi all, I am a newbie at this forums and have some questions that needed advices.
I just got a brand new xps M1330 three days ago and I already have some hardware problem with the laptop.
    Problems:
1)Left hinge of the computer (the connection between the Led screen and computr) has a gap. I can see the wires and some white cement. The right side is nice and no gap.
2)The logos of the XPS, part of the words are missing. The "X" is half gone, and the "S" is totoally missing.
3)The "space" key on the key board are more elevated than other keys.

After I call dell, and the dispatch came to replace the keyboard and the lid on the speaker.
Following is what he told me:
    1) the loose left hinge with the visible wires is the manufacture tolerence. It was made it like that. Even though it looks very obvious compare to the other side. There's nothing he can do to close the gap, even change the whole screen.
    2) He can order a new lid cover to solve the missing logo problem (I don't think it's really that matter.)

I am still dealing with dell customer service. And I just wondering if these problem happend frequently. Or I just an unlucky first time laptop buyer.
Can anyone giving me some tips on how to solve this type of problems with dell?
    Thanks!

Definently call dell and ask for a return. Or ask for an exchange + compensation (they usually give $50-100) for your troubles. Of course you need some social skills to get the compensation, but they will exchange the laptop for sure. Just keep calling in until you find someone that gives you an answer that you like.

I usually have no troubles with Dells , now I probably will.
But if I did, and it sounds like your not happy.
Return it for a full refund and reorder something else or another one.
    You deserve the best!

Return it. Avoid the run-around and just return it. PM me and I may be able to get you 22% off, if you decide to order again.

Sucks about their quality control... they really are hit or miss. I have purchased two Dell laptops in the past month, and both have been MINT and both were shipped in three days or less!

Yup, they have some quality control issues sometimes but their CS is usually good about fixing problems.
