I just got a dell E1705 and i like it,but it seems to go slower than it should be,it freezes the taskbar and freezes simple applications like windows explorer, like right now my taskbar is frozen but i can still type this. I tryed out a toshiba at circuit city and it was going much faster than the dell, and they are the same processor. And when i look at the task manager there is a lot of processes going that i dont know what they are and have never seen them on my desktop. so as of now i have a few questions.
Does dell install a bunch of unecessary crap on their laptops that would slow it down?
Would reinstalling the OS(not the reinstallation cd that dell gives you) get rid of the lagging that i am experincing?
what extra drivers are required to run a laptop that are not required on a desktop?

P.s:The toshiba only had an extra Gig of ram but was running vista and i am running XP Pro.

Yeah look through the add/remove programs and get rid of stuff that is obviously crapware.

Yes, doing a clean OS install will eliminate the problems you are having.
