Just like the title says, i went to the intel website and i am trying to upgrade my driver for the video card, my os is home premium 32bit, downloaded the .EXE , says the driver is not validated for this computer.

But i have no idea which one to choose then.

By the way, I am on a Dell inpspiron 13 that just arrived.

You cannot download graphics drivers from Intel, at least for notebook computers. When updated drivers are available and have been approved by Dell, they will be available on Dell's support website.

Not exactly true... Generally you can install Intel graphics drivers on notebooks (I have done it many times); however, once a DELL driver is installed that somehow prevents you from upgrading to an Intel driver; at least that was the case when I had my old Inspiron 630M a couple of years back. But if you install an Intel driver straight away on a clean installation of Windows, then you can continue to upgrade with Intel drivers.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to override the DELL driver restrictions.

It took several other forum members to help me out with this one.

I ended up having to uninstall the Dell/Intel driver then install the new, Intel one. After that, it worked fine.

More Info in the thread I posted: Installing Video Drivers from Intel...Impossible!?

I must say though, that I'm tempted to switch back to the Dell approved driver. I now experience at least one graphics driver crash per day-Vista resets the driver immediately, but it's still a bit unnerving to have the screen turn black suddenly for about 30 seconds at seemingly random times, like when I switch between running on battery and plugging into the wall.
