This thread is geared towards us Canadians who don't have access to the X-Fi Expresscard that our US neighbors do.
Here's my solution.
Since it's under warrantee, they wanted me to send my 1520 back for repairs. I told the rep that I couldn't part with it since I need it for work (and I love it), and from what I've been able to learn, there's nothing they could do anyways about the sound. She ended up giving me a $75 coupon to put towards an external sound option. Since the CDN site doesn't sell the Creative X-Fi Expresscard, here's what I got instead...

The beauty is that it comes with a USB adapter so I can continue to use my pro headphones, and I had enough left over to buy a laptop cooler.
There is hope for us Canadians who need our good sound.
