I just got an XPS m1330 today and I plugged in my headphones. I took them out and now my PC thinks that the headphones are still plugged in and doesn't give me any sound out of the laptop speakers. The only way I can get any sound is if I plug the headphones back into the jack.
Just wondering if anyone knows how I can repair this, without having to send it back if at all possible as I just got it today and I need it for college.

If this is Vista, you might try checking under Audio and Sound Devices in the Control Panel. The enumerated list of Playback devices should have Headphones and Speakers as options. Try making Speakers the default.

Well, I'm on Vista Ultimate and when I click on the "Sound" option in Vista, I only get the option to test the audio.
And the configure option only allows me to choose how I want my sound, either Stereo, Quadrophonic or 5.1.
I double click it to get up the Speaker/Headphone properties and I can't really do much other than look in the driver properties, change the icon and tinker around with volume and enhancements. -
Anyone ?
