My D420 is much hotter when connected to the D/Port than when it´s not. The difference is about 10 degrees C (~50 vs ~60) when just browsing, so it´s not that much of an issue most of the time.

However, when I´m doing things that really pushes the computer the CPU temperature quickly goes up to 80 and I have to stop so it doesn´t overheat. This doesn´t happen when not connected to the dock.

Is this a common problem with the D/Port? I´m also thinking of buying a D620 for more power hungry tasks, but if I won´t be able to push it without it overheating then there´s not really much of a point in buying it. Should I just buy a desktop instead?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but i have the same issue in terms of the d/port making my laptop signficantly hotter, to the point where i think its sped up the damage of the battery

    anyone have a similar experience w/ d/ports?
