Hi, I apologize if this has been covered before but I need an answer and have searched under 1330 heat and 1330 hot. When I have the laptop on my lap, it gets uncomfortably hot, hot enough that I can't keep it on my lap. The heat is coming from a very specific place, from under the wireless cards' backing plate. The plate is right at the front center of the laptop. Is that where others feel heat? Much thanks, Yasmine

Sorry but I am bumping this. Help, please; I really need the information!! Much thanks, Yasmine

Hi, just to give everyone an update, tech support told me that the machine was no longer supposed to be put on laps (huh?!). In other words, unless it burns it is within specs, as it were. Again, I really need some response; is your 1330 hot (uncomfortable) and is it hot under the center wireless plate? Much thanks!

I don't know anything about the 1330, but i have an e1705. I cleaned out the fans (yours is much newer so this may not be applicable) and it literally dropped the idle GPU temp by 13 degrees.

@Yasmine hi there
well I don't know about the lap issue always used mine on a deck/table. But any how in general use Net and after watching a DVD my M1330 is warm on the underside but nothing like what you have describe. Which video card is in your unit, Integrated Intel or nVidiaGeForce?

My Laptop gets heated there alot. Even after a new mobo replacement, format still the same heat. Its slightly better when its on the table compared to on the bed etc.

Thanks for the reponses! My apologies, I forgot my specs. 2ghz processor, 1gb (going up to 2) ram, 8400 video card, 120 gb 5400 h/.d, n card, white, led. I am going to my local kiosk today to find out how hot their machine gets. The good part about this is that if their's is cooler, they will feel the difference right there and be able to back me up on any repairs that might need to be done, lol! Again, thanks and I will keep you posted!

. Much thanks!
ps. 8400 video card -
My m1330 gets warm, but never warm enough that it will actually burn me or cause me discomfort.
I just felt the memory area now and it is really warm, but that part never really rests on my lap so I don't notice it. -

Hi,
did you finally get an explanation for your heat? Mine also get hot around the section (wireless card area) ...
thx

Remember, the intake fans for this system are under the notebook - hence if its on your lap you are obstructing the air intake, meaning your laptop will get hotter and have a shorter lifespan.
Dell is correct in stating they shouldnt be used on your lap, since the system components in these systems are much higher then they used to be, so generate a lot more heat then older systems. Hence the reason why they are now called 'Notebooks', rather then 'Laptops'.
I plan to buy a M1330 soon which I would like to use on my lap via wireless. What I'll be doing is using a thin piece of wood or plastic, cut to the size of the notebook. I'll place that on my lap, and the notebook on top of that - slightly raised if possible. This will allow the laptop get get air through its intakes, while save your legs from burning. Even better would be a sheet of aluminium - light and copes much better with heat -

I had a M1210 that did that, right under that little panel like you described. I didn't think it was normal based on other laptops I've had so I returned it. The M1330 I have now, and my VAIO don't get that hot in that area.

Mine gets warm but never hot. Get the 9 cell batter if you use it on your lap as it raises the middle of the laptop off your lap and keeps the fan vents clear.
-
Thats why I chose to get the 9 cell battery!

my laptop gets very hot in the same exact place also. A friends laptop with the exact same specs (T7250/3gb of ram/8400GS) gets no where near as hot as mine. Mine is as you described, hot enough to burn my hands.
Did you find a fix for it?
p.s to the people saying keep the fans clear it seems to be nothing to do with the fan. The fan will not be spinning and it will still be burning to the touch. If i set the fan speed to full the heat does not change in the slightest.
cheers
